Clearing the way the Windows Registry

Windows Registry is a large set of files containing information about almost everything that happens on the computer, from a visit to a Web site to install the program. Registry also contains information on drivers and other critical programs, such as DLL (Dynamic Linked Library) - a small helper program that often work with more than one application. This information is stored in the form of "key" that can help other programs run. It's like the blue print for all the programs running on your computer and how everything can fit together walking. Only computers that run Windows operating systems have registry.

A registry may have hundreds of thousands of entries, and new entries are made at any time. Because the filling of information, the registry can cause a computer's performance to be declining. One problem is that Windows is almost never delete the registry entries, even if the program is deleted, because most uninstallers can not effectively remove the registry key yourself.

Before you play with the registry, make a backup copy of the registry and also to store all important data to an external hard drive. Some registry cleaning program has features to make a copy of the registry system.

Windows has integrated the program to edit the registry, called regedit.exe and can be accessed by opening the Start menu, click Run and type regedit in the program. Although the program is easily accessible, it is very difficult to use.
