WiMAX Xirka

Chips are not new in the world of IT. But what about production? Was still dominated by foreign products. This time, several young Indonesian IT creators again showed his best performance in the manufacture of chips.

Xirka Wimax chipset is a chip made by an Indonesian native, was launched in August 2009. It's not easy to make a chip business with high complexity. Xirka Indonesian engineer who escorted some of these were developed in 2006.

This chipset consists of two specifications, namely Xirka for Fixed WiMAX chipsets and chipsets for Mobile WiMAX Xirka. For fixed wimax launched in August 2009. While mobile wimax launched in the fourth quartal 2009.

In 2009, mass produced for Chipset Xirka Fixed BWA (IEEE 802.16d-2004). Xirka have a roadmap that has been planned in accordance with the needs of the IT world in Indonesia and International. Xirka first generation chipset - a chipset for Broadband Wireless Access (BWA), which according to the WiMAX standard IEEE 802.16e-2005 will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2010.

After Xirka first generation was launched, it will be forwarded to the second generation onwards Xirka who followed the progress of the world's chipset technology. With a clear roadmap, then Xirka steadily and planned to become a world-class chipset industry continues to innovate and contribute not only in Indonesia but also internationally.

Genuine product made in Indonesia was launched directly by the Ministry of Research and Technology Republic of Indonesia, Kusmayanto Kadiman. He explained, all components within Xirka is made in Indonesia. Wimax operators that provide services shall use Xirka.

According Kusmayanto, Indonesia for this role is as a user. "Therefore, we wanted to Indonesia could also act as producer. We encourage developers to develop WiMAX chip and the result is this Xirka, "he explained.

Wimax, he added, will ensure all-Indonesia, ranging from components to Wimax operators. With the creation of this Xirka Wimax chips, Indonesia has been aligned with the nine other countries that are already developing WiMAX chips, including China, Japan, Russia, and Taiwan.

Indonesia expects Kusmayanto chipset industry can achieve world-class. Therefore, it takes innovation and community contributions not only from Indonesia but also the international community.
